Passed 06/01/2025

Charlie Francis Penn, Sr., a beloved father, friend, and community servant, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

Born in Barnesville, Lamar County, to the late Rueben Lee Penn, Sr. and Mrs. Willie Belle Banks Penn, Charlie was deeply rooted in the community that shaped him. He received his education through the Lamar County School System and graduated from Booker High School with pride and determination.

At an early age, Charlie confessed his faith in Christ and became a faithful member of West Mount Sinai Baptist Church. His devotion to his church and community never wavered. He served in multiple church ministries and was always present with a helping hand and a joyful spirit whenever the church doors were open.

Charlie served his country with honor and integrity, enlisting in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1980, after which he returned home to work alongside his family in the brick

masonry business. His craftsmanship can still be seen in buildings and homes throughout Barnesville and Lamar County—a lasting testament to his skill and hard work.

Charlie had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and had a natural warmth that drew others to him. His love for family was evident in the joy he found at family gatherings and the care he gave to those around him. An avid fisherman, Charlie loved to share his catches, always thinking of others and their enjoyment. His presence was a light in the lives of so many, and he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, church family, and the entire community.

Charlie was preceded in death by siblings Ms. Wilda Faye Penn, Wanda Penn, Mr. John Wayne Penn, Ruben Penn Jr., Ronald Oscar Penn, Durion D. Penn, Guy Dale Penn Sr. and William H. Penn.
