I knew this day would eventually come but, as a loved one, you can never be prepared for death. We will all meet our demise some day and it’s left up to us to live life to its fullest by trusting in the Lord and following in His path of righteousness. This is a tough one for me because I know that my aunt lived a long, blessed and sometimes challenging life. She lived through the elections of seventeen (17) U. S. presidents. She lived through at least five (5) major wars. She lived through segregation, the civil rights movement and desegregation. She outlived her husband and all eight (8) of her siblings, some of whom passed away within a year or two of each other. She even lived longer than the baby of the family, Ralph. I spoke with her twice within the past couple of months during her illness and she was just as sharp as she’s always been even leading up to her death. She was the epitome of a true warrior and I’m extremely proud to say that MY GREAT AUNT, “Queen Mattie J. Brown”, a proud nonagenarian, can now take her throne in heavenly paradise. Her work here on Earth is done. I will miss you dearly Aunt Mattie. Love you always, Yolanda
