Letha Michelle Foster

Letha was born on October 22, 1963 at the Spartanburg General Hospital in Spartanburg, South Carolina. On a sunny Friday morning, November 16, 2018 Letha peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home.

Letha was a faithful member of the Harrison Grove Baptist Church. Her beautiful angelic alto voice will be missed ringing throughout the Mass Choir where she also held the office of chaplain. She served as a Praise Team Worship Leader; the Sunbeam Choir Director; Vacation Bible School Music Director; a Student in the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class; and a Bus Driver for the Transportation ministry.

After graduating from Spartanburg High School in 1981, she furthered her education at Spartanburg Community College graduating with an Associate's Degree in Education and in 2005, she was conferred a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, and Communication from the University of South Carolina Upstate. Letha was employed as a Teacher's Assistant and Bus Driver at McCarthy Teszler for seven years. She was currently a teacher at Piedmont Community Action / Z.L. Madden Learning Center. The Foster, Butler, Woodruff and Roger's Family Reunion Committee, will miss her helping plan the annual reunion each summer.

Many will remember Letha as a Disc Jockey providing music for their private gatherings as 'DJ Shelly Shell.'

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charlie Foster and Pearl Butler Foster; her maternal uncles and aunts, Furman Foster, George Foster, Alice McWhorter, Mae Agnes Smith, Betty Martin, Bessie Lee Garrett; her niece, Marquita Necole Foster and her nephew, Brandon Macomson.

Letha leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Martha Josephine Foster, her daughter, Shameka Foster; her son, Jerome Foster; her siblings, Rudolph (Sheila) Foster, Cindy Foster, James Foster, Johnny (Glenda) Foster and Roger Foster; her grandchildren, Kyan Foster, Tomya Lindsey and Kennedy Booker; her daughter's companion, Tobin Lindsey; her uncles, Charlie (France) Foster, Joe (Cheryl) Foster; niece reared in the home, Raqel Brown; cousin reared in the home, Sylvia (Thomas, Sr.) Massey; her god son, Langston Seth Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC.

A Celebration of the Life of Letha Michelle Foster will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harrison Grove Baptist Church, 299 Harrison Grove Church Road, Roebuck, SC. The Reverend Allen V. Rector will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of her mother, Martha J. Foster, 410 Shaw Ave., Spartanburg, SC.
