MARVIN LORENZO OGBURN, son of James Ogburn and Annie McKnight Ogburn, was born March 19, 1963 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life June 4, 2025 at VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

At the age of two, Marvin and his parents moved to New Jersey where he later joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

He graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ. After graduation, Marvin joined the United States Army and he received an Honorable Discharge in August of 1983. He also served with the Army Reserve.

In 1985, he married Cynthia Wright and to this union three children were born.

Marvin was a huge New York Giants fan. He loved to dance and be among family and friends. He was always ready to have a good fun time. Marvin was the life of the party.

He will be missed but his legacy of strength and love will forever live on through his children and grandchildren. Marvin was a belove husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Marvin leaves to cherish his wife- Cynthia W. Ogburn of the home; seven children- Jamal Dean, Cedar Knolls, NJ; Nakia MaShack, East Orange, NJ; Marvin (Chantel) Ogburn, Jr., Chesterfield, VA; Marquia MaShack, Newark, NJ; Marcus (Samone) Ogburn, LaCrosse, VA; Marcel Ogburn of the home and Desmond Evans, LaCrosse, VA; ten grandchildren; parents- Annie M. Ogburn, LaCrosse, VA; James (Jeanette) Ogburn, Beverly, NJ; grandmother- Dora Hudgins, South Hill, VA; two brothers- James (Lori) Ogburn, Irvington, NJ and Rodney (Courtney) Ogburn, LaCrosse, VA; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; nine aunts; three uncles; devoted uncle and friend- Fields “Sonny Boy” McKnight; devoted cousin- Prophetess Midred A. Jessup and a vast number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other friends.
