In Loving Memory Clarence "Butch" Scott, Jr.
December 8, 1939 – June 11, 2025
Clarence “Butch” Scott, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Durham, NC on June 11, 2025.
Born in Bahama, NC to the late Clarence Scott, Sr. and Carrie Fuller Scott, Butch lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family, faith, and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Harris Scott; children, Carolyn Scott Parker (Jeffery) of Fayetteville, NC, Erica Scott Wiley of Roxboro, NC, and Keith M. Scott (Mary) of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Parker Thompson (Greg) of Fairfax, VA, CreeSean T. Rankin, Nia I. Spencer, and Tariq J. Wiley (Zetora), all of Roxboro, NC; sister, Carol Scott Burton of Durham, NC; ten cherished great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A proud member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Bahama, NC, Butch lived his faith through kindness and service. He retired after 45 years at Liggett Group and later served his beloved Northern Durham community by driving a school bus for Durham County Public Schools for seven years.
Butch was well-known for his deep love of cars, cooking, his infectious laugh, and a grin that lit up any room. He found joy in visiting friends and family, and comforting those who were sick or shut in. His presence was truly a blessing to everyone he met.
