Willie Edmon Almond

MAJOR WILLIE EDMON ALMOND – Age 68, - Of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1957 to the late Milton Almond, Sr. and Lillie Mae Bell - Almond. Loved ones who preceded him are his four sisters, Glory Patrick, Ellen Goode, Gwenda Almond, Gayle Joiner, two brothers-in-law, Robert Golden, and James Wyatt. He graduated from Central High School Class of 1975, attended Dalton Junior College where he was a former basketball player with the Roadrunners, he finished his basketball career at West Georgia College, earned several Degrees from the University of Tennessee, Central State University, and a Doctor of Arts from Clark Atlanta University. He retired as an Officer after twenty-two years in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. Major Almond was a member of Mountain Missionary Baptist Church in Dalton, GA and actively attended several churches in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cherished love and memories will remain in the hearts of his devoted wife of forty-five years, Patricia M. Bonds - Almond; two sons, Morris (Kristal) Almond, Joshua Almond; two grandchildren, Ty Brooks, and Marley Whitted; sisters, Doris Wyatt, Carolyn Golden; three brothers, Aaron (Verlene) Almond, Milton (Brenda) Almond, Jr., Walter Almond; brother-in-law, Lamar (Linda) Bonds; three aunts, Carrie Jones, Betty Sue Richardson, and Mittie Bell Almond Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his church family.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 P. M. at Mountain Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., Dalton, Georgia with Rev. Dr. Jerry D. Jones as Eulogist. His remains will lie in state at the funeral home on Friday after 12:00 noon until the funeral hour. Interment with Military Rites at West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.
