Elsie Lee Wright, 95, of Chatham Heights Road, Martinsville, Virginia departed from this life on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at her residence. She was born October 21, 1929, in Virginia to the late Eckmond McKinley Easley and Ethel Mae Hagwood Easley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J Laumott Wright.

Elsie was a faithful member of Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia. She participated in the Gospel Star Choir and the senior choir and served as a trustee of the church. She continued there until she could no longer attend. For the last eight years she became a watch care member of Greater Love Ministries in Martinsville, VA. She graduated from Henry County Training Center and worked at Staney Furniture until her retirement.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include, one son, VonRonstead Wright, Sr.; one daughter, Shirelle Butler both of Martinsville, Virginia; one sister, Evelyn M. Moss of Martinsville, Virginia; one brother, William Maynard Easley of Bassett, Virginia; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A family visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the C.R.V. Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home in Martinsville, Virginia. Bishop Avery Preston will be the Eulogist. The burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Drive, Martinsville, VA.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
