MRS. LILLIE E. HOUGH SMITH

Passed 06/18/2025

Mrs. Lillie Elizabeth Smith affectionately known as “Lib” was born to John and Cassie Ingram Hough on July 16, 1940 in Lilesville, NC.

“After 84 years in this journey, my Lord and Savior called my name and I gained my winds on June 18, 2025. Even though my transition happened suddenly, family and friends, remember me in your hearts and find comfort in the love we shared. While I wished to stay, my Heavenly Father extended an offer, I could not refuse: a complete transformation (no more pain), a release from the daily burdens and cares that weighed me down, and a place of rest, filled with joy and gladness. I accepted the offer! I leave you my legacy and love. I charge all of you to love in words, actions and in deeds. Please rejoice in knowing I am at peace, surrounded by love and light. Hallelujah! I am free. Thank God for His grace and mercy.”

She was an active and devoted member of Pleasant Hill AME Zion Church, Wadesboro, NC until her health failed.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Walter Frank Smith in July 1966 and to this union 4 children were born: Jasper Smith of the home who preceded her in death, John (Michele) Smith of Peachland, NC, Lillie D.
