In the tender hours of June 17, 2025, we said farewell to a bright light, Eriayn LaFaye Preston, born on December 12, 2024, in Youngstown, Ohio. An infant, a daughter, a joy wrapped in wonder, Eriayn was a beacon of innocence and love. The joy she brought into our lives will echo forever. Through she graced our lives for a brief time she left footprints on our hearts that will never fade.
Eriayn, a precious little angel, was cradled in the love of her family: her mother, Shaneequa D. Henderson, and father, Erick A. Preston, who cherished every smile, every giggle, and every moment. She is cherished by a loving tribe, including her big brother Carter, grandmothers Janet Cornwell, Michelle Preston-Curry; grandfathers Rocco Henderson and William Porter; uncle and aunts, Maurice Preston, Sylena Henderson, Ambrosia Preston and Mabel Curry, along with a myriad of cousins whose memories of her will forever hold a special place.
Eriayn's days were filled with dreams yet to unfold, but her spirit lives on through the love of her family. As we remember sweet Eriayn, let us carry her light within us and share the love she inspired, a reminder that even the briefest lives can leave the deepest impressions.
As the family prepares to gather and honor her presence in their lives, there will be an 11:00 AM public viewing held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, where we will reflect and remember the sweetness and the joy she brought to all. A Celebration of Life service will follow at Noon, recognizing the love she inspired in our hearts and the warmth of her fleeting spirit. Pastor Rocky DeFrank of the Beautiful Feet Ministries will oversee the services.
In her own special way, Eriayn reminded us all of the preciousness of life, the warmth of connection, and the beauty found in each moment. While Eriayn's journey may have been brief, her impact was profound. Her beautiful life will be remembered in the laughter and love she evoked. As she is laid to rest, let us keep her memory alive in every cherished moment we share.
At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the family of Eriayn LaFaye Preston elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 330.782.8500.
Heaven's Cradle
We never heard your first sweet word,
Nor watched you walk or play,
Yet in our hearts, your lullaby,
Will never fade away.
God’s cradle rocks with gentle breeze,
Where tiny cherubs lie,
And though we ache with silent grief,
We’ll meet beyond the sky.
So sleep now, little heart so pure,
In lands where angels sing,
You are our everlasting joy,
Our ever-cherished spring.
