Obituary For Betty Jane Robinson Ballard

Ms. Betty Jane Robinson was born in Everettville, West Virginia on August 26, 1932 to the late James and Gerlena Robinson. After the death of her mother, she and her, now deceased siblings, Annie Mae and James Jr. moved to Lynchburg, SC, where they were reared by their father’s mother, the late, Annie Earest Robinson.

Betty received her education at Johnson school in Lynchburg, SC. Betty joined Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served and worshipped for over 50 years. She served on the Usher Board, earning the nickname “Serg” short for Sergeant. She faithfully served on the Stewardess Board earning the highest honor of Deaconess, in 2013. On Monday, November 19, 2018, after a lengthy illness, Betty closed her eyes to rest in Jesus. She was the proud mother to: Betty Robinson Wilson (George – Deceased); Annie Mae and Frank (John) Robinson both deceased and Ben Earl and Robert Tyrone (Barbara) Ballard.

She leaves to mourn: Three children – Betty, Ben Earl and Robert all of Fort Pierce; Nine Grandchildren – Gene Wilson Sr., Paula (Willie, Jr.) Bellamy, Raynard (Tina) Cromes, Jennifer Wilson; Bryan (Saprina) Cromes; Robert Ballard, III; Tareinus Wardlaw; Roberta Pickett and Rodney Walker. Twelve Great Grandchildren – Gene Wilson, Jr., Shukira Bellamy, Jynne’ Robinson, Willie Bellamy III, Raynard Cromes, Shacola Cromes, Malcolm Wilson Sr., Amanda Bellamy, Bry’anna Cromes, Kadaija Carswell, Alexis and Aliyah Wilson. Twelve Great-Great Grands; One special niece – Priscilla White; One special nephew – James Robinson Jr.; Two special cousins – Alexander Brown and Ralph Dickey; A special friend and adopted sister – Mildred Armstrong; Three special and longtime friends – Frances Davis, Mary Flowers, Charlotte Lee and Blanch Ragin; Her Caregiver – Nioka Cartwright; A host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Deaconess Ballard will be held on: Friday, November 30, 2018, from 4-6pm. The Wake will be 6-7pm. The Home Going Celebration will take place on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 10:00pm. All services will be held at: at St. Paul AME Church, 1405 N. 27th Street, Fort Pierce. Intermittent Services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, 918 N. 10th Street.
