Obituary For Mr. Oliver Rattley

Oliver “Osmand” Lee Ratley was born on August 16, 1938 in Dillon County, South Carolina to the late Henry Cobbs and Helen Ratley. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at USH Pruitt Health Hospice Home in Dillon, South Carolina.

He attended the public schools at New Holly, where he also attended the church. Oliver had a saying that he said every day, it was throwing up his hands and saying, “Thank you Jesus.” As a young man Oliver along with his mother and sibling moved to Baltimore, Maryland where he started his adult life.

Oliver worked for Bethlehem Steel Mill for twenty plus years. He also had a passion for caring for people, so that lead him to do private duty in the healthcare field for seven and a half years until his health began to decline.

Oliver was preceded in death by his father: Henry Cobbs; mother: Helen Ratley Cobbs; three brothers: Ben Graham, James Ratley and Henry Cobbs; a special nephew that he took to be his son: Bobby “Man” Fletcher; brother-n-law: Linton and seven nephews, six nieces whom also preceded him in death.

Oliver leaves to cherish his memories ~ a loving sister: Ella Mae Rose of Dillon, SC; a special niece: Angela D. Rose of Dillon, SC (whom he called his personal secretary and on-call nurse); when Oliver realized that his stay in Baltimore, Maryland was coming to an end, he called his personal chauffeur: Frank Rose (nephew) to moved him and his belongings back to where he was borne and raised in Dillon, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom he loved equally.

To The Grieving Family of Mr. Oliver Ratley A message of Solace at The Time of Your Lost of a Loved One………… Will War and Suffering Ever End? WHY THE QUESTION ARISES: War continues to claim untold numbers of human lives. All of us have been touched by human suffering. WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: God foretells a time when he will establish peace earth wide. Under his Kingdom, a heavenly government, people will not “learn war anymore.” Instead, they will “beat their swords into plowshares.” (Isaiah 2:4) God will bring an end to all injustice and suffering. The Bible promises: “[God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things [including today’s injustices and sufferings] have passed away.”—Revelation 21:3, 4.See also Psalm 37:10, 11; 46:9; and Micah 4:1-4.It is my sincere hope that these words/this knowledge helps to sustain you, your family during your Bereavement… Along with your Bible Go to www.jw.org 'Bible' or 'Publications' to answer any bible topic
