On Sunday, June 22,2025, James William Johns 58, of Hickory St., Martinsville peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born May 10, 1967, in Martinsville, VA to the late Brenda Ray Johns.
James was employed by Monogram Meats, and he attended Divine Faith Tabernacle. He received his formal education through the Martinsville City Public Schools.
James leaves to cherish his memory his father, David Manns (Faye) of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Shaquanna Morrison of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Shawn Johns and Kai Claver both of California, and Draco Claver of Martinsville, VA; three grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca A. Johns and Quantina R. Johns both of Martinsville, VA; half-sister, Clarissa Moore (Theo) of Martinsville, VA; three half-brothers, Tom L. Manns, Antonio D. Manns and Martinez Manns, Sr. (Clarese) all of Martinsville, VA; special friend, Erica White of Bassett, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Apostle Dennis Belcher, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens, 869 Parkway Dr., Martinsville.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. the family will receive friends during this time. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 1107 Roundabout Rd., Martinsville. Live streaming of the funeral service will be available at Hairston Funeral Home live via Facebook.
