Linn Ann Jones Griffin, 82, Passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Linn Ann Jones Griffin was born on September 15, 1942 in Bainbridge, Georgia. She is the first child of the late Elbert W. Jones and Inez Augusta Stevens Jones.

In 1960, she graduated from Allen High School in Ashville, North Carolina. In 1965 she earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethune-Cookman College and the Master of Education degree from Florida A&M University in 1966. She also earned the Master of Library Science degree from Florida State University in 1977.

She received a diploma in Funeral Services from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Services in 1981. Since that time, Linn has worked as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc. Her motto is “Let your light so shine that men shall see your good work that glorifies our Father which is in Heaven.”

Linn Ann is an extraordinary woman, passionate about a life of service, not only in the business world, but also in her church, Bethel A. M.E. Church, where she is actively involved as a Trustee, an Usher, President of the Pulpit Aide Board Ministry, the Women’s Missionary Society and a Church School Leader. She is committed to enhancing business, church, education and scholarship in the community. Her vast contributions to this community have made her an outstanding citizen. She serves well in a traditionally male dominated industry - funeral services. A highly successful woman, she is a managing co-owner of Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc. She employs a contingency of women in her business while promoting womanhood and much needed community employment.

Linn Ann founded the Florida District V Ladies Auxiliary within the State of Florida Morticians Association. In memory of her mother, Inez Augusta Stevens Jones, a founder of the Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc. she provides an annual scholarship to a woman seeking a career in mortuary science.

She holds membership in many local, state, and national professional organizations: Florida Morticians Association, National Funeral Directors and Morticians, Inc., Epsilon Nu Delta Fraternity, District IV Ladies Auxiliary. She also holds memberships in several other national and fraternal organizations such as, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, United Ebonettes, Florida A&M University Alumni Association, Inc., Bethune-Cookman University Alumni Association, Inc., Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Fairest Among Thousand Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star, Hope Guild #65 Heroines of Crusade, O. J. Chestnut #65 Golden Circle, Leon Court #4 Order of Calanthe, Iran Tent #2 Princess of Omar. She also sits on the Board for the A Life Recovery Center and Mother’s in Crisis. She has received numerous awards for outstanding service including: 25 Women to Know; 25 Phenomenal Women Making a Difference; Tallahassee Community College Black Calendar Honorees; 100 Black Women in Funeral Service; Bethel A.M.E. Church Mother of the Year and the Church Wall of Faith. Most recently received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Florida A & M University in May 2013.

Linn Ann has three sons: Thomas J. “Tommy” Griffin, Jr., Elbert J. Griffin (Shavonda) and Alfred S. Griffin (Ericka); three grandsons, Thomas J. Griffin III, Tyler J. Griffin and Tristian Griffin and one granddaughter, Aliyah A. Griffin; and a host of other family members and friends, including the entire Strong & Jones Funeral Home Family.

Funeral service will be 12 (Noon), Monday, June 30, 2025 at Bethel A.M.E. Church with burial at Southside Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 12:00 (Noon) to 6 P.M. Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home.
