Robert "Wayne" Underwood Jr. passed away on June 22, 2025, at his father's home in Gresham, SC. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.

Wayne was a vibrant individual who loved anime, music, Renaissance festivals, karaoke, and good-natured teasing. He also enjoyed gaming, fishing, and creatively expressing himself with Lego flowers. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his family and friends.

A graduate of York Comprehensive High School, Wayne went on to build a career in the trades, with experience in construction, heating and air, flooring, and electrical work. His hands-on skills and dedication to his craft earned him respect from those who knew him.

Wayne had a flair for the dramatic and loved to get sharp dressed, often turning heads with his smooth talk and charming personality, especially when it came to the ladies.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin Underwood and Anna Carnes, and Joel Carnes, and brothers Jamie Hall and TJ Underwood.

Survived by his mother, Priscilla Underwood; father, Robert Underwood and Marie; grandmother, Sandra Underwood; brothers Aaron Underwood, Jonathan Underwood and wife Toni, Lucas Underwood, and Josephine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne was a complex individual with a big heart and spirit. He faced many challenges in life, including mental illness, and was often misunderstood. Despite this, he was a gentle giant with a soft spot for those he cared about, and a force to be reckoned with when provoked.

A service will be held at his mother's home, 933 Lucky Two, York, SC 29745. Friends and family are welcome to visit. The service will take place on Saturday at 12:00. A potluck gathering after the service would be a wonderful way to share memories and celebrate Wayne's life. You're welcome to come by before the service to pay your respects.
