Shawn Dewayne Zimmerman Jr. of High Point, NC departed this life unexpectedly on June 10, 2025 as a result of senseless gun violence, he was only 19 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Shawn, but known by family and friends as (Woodie) was born on December 9, 2005 in High Point, NC to his loving parents Lavena White and Shawn Zimmerman, Sr. He graduated from Southwest Guilford High School in 2024. Those who knew Woodie will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter and love for his family. He loved family gatherings.

To know him was to love him. He was full of adventure and loved to sing, make music and ride dirt bikes. One of his specialties that brought enormous joy and laughter to his family was his dancing. At any moment and at hearing any beat he was up and ready to get the party started. He was a music connoisseur with so much compassion and love for his nieces, nephews, family and friends. His gift of making others smile and laugh was impactful to all who crossed his path. Those who knew Woodie did not hesitate, calling him their friend.

Although his life here on earth was cut extremely too short he leaves behind to cherish his loving memories: his mother Lavena White of the home; father, Shawn Zimmerman, Sr. of High Point, NC; siblings: Tiarra Lewis, (a special brother-in-law, Mario Lewis), Shawnequa Zimmerman, Destiny Zimmerman, Dashawn Zimmerman, Lamar Zimmerman, and Tyrese Lyons all of High Point, NC. My son (Woodie) I found this poem for you and although I did not create it, it said what I want you to know: LOVE MOM

Broken Chain by Ron Tranmer…

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you Dearly.

In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you

The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide and though we CANNOT see you

YOU ARE ALWAYS AT OUR SIDE.

Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one

THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN…

Shawn Dewayne Zimmerman (Woodie) you will be missed, your loved ones you have left behind will cherish the many memories we hold near and dear to our hearts. We will continue to honor, LOVE and uplift you in everything we do here on earth, until we meet again my son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend, rest in peace.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Service, Inc.
