David Lee Calhoun

07/11/1961 - 06/26/2025

In the heart of Canton, OH, on July 11, 1961, David Lee Calhoun made his grand entrance into the world, brought to life by the love of his parents, the late Norman Calhoun Sr. and Lucille (Grant) Calhoun. On June 26, 2025, David transitioned into eternity, but his spirit remains as vibrant as ever, echoing in the laughter and memories of those who knew him.

David was a true family man, a BBQ King with a flair for fun and flair for storytelling. His infectious stutter only added to the charm of his unbelievable tales, pulling friends and family into a web of outrageous events that made everyone literally laugh out loud. David was a joy — a gentle soul with a laugh that could light up the darkest days.

David worked hard with his beloved Brick City Family, always lending a hand and a smile to anyone in need. He found pleasure in the simple moments—watching sports, grilling with loved ones—living life to the fullest.

Left to carry on his legacy of love and laughter are his treasured daughters, Wantia Colman and Angelica “Angie” Calhoun. David is also remembered fondly by his beloved sisters — Dorothy Calhoun, Trisha Calhoun, Barbara Love, and Minnie Herrod. His brother Lou (Carla) Calhoun stands with pride in carrying forth the family tree.

David cherished his four grandsons, Jahiem, Jah'naszia, Noah, and Nykel, alongside his special nephew Stanley Calhoun; special nieces, Lil Trish and Jasmine Calhoun, and a vast network of nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Though he has departed, David's memory will always dance through the hearts of those who loved him.

Upon crossing the celestial sands into eternity, he became reunited with his parents and embraced by brothers James, Norman Jr., and Sammy Calhoun, as well as his sister Catherine “Rene” Herrod, and cherished nephews Jason Calhoun, Darius "Boo Gotti" Smalls, and Stanley Bryson Calhoun Sr.

Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of David's life during a public viewing in the chapel of the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, Inc.,1617 Third Street N.E., in Canton on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 12:00 Noon - 2:00 PM.
