Beatrice Nell Wilson Huddleston

Passed 07/12/2025

Beatrice Nell (Wilson) Huddleston peacefully entered eternal rest on July 12, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 19, 1937, in Shelby, NC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Phillip and Lenora (Brown) Wilson.

Beatrice was educated in the Cleveland County School System and graduated as Valedictorian of the Camp High School Class of 1955. Her academic excellence earned her a scholarship to Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC.

She later married her childhood sweetheart, Jesse Quitmon Huddleston, and the couple relocated to New York City, where they began their life together and welcomed three children—one son and two daughters—building a legacy rooted in love, faith, and family. In 1974, Beatrice and Jesse returned to their hometown of Shelby, NC.

Just two years later, in 1976, Beatrice gave her heart to Jesus Christ, beginning a lifelong walk of faith that continued until she entered into His eternal presence. Beatrice was a devoted member of Shoal Creek Missionary Baptist Church for over 45 years. She faithfully served as the Musical Choir Director, Pianist, and Senior Sunday School Teacher—roles through which she touched many lives with her gifts and unwavering spirit. She dedicated many years of service to the Social Security Administration before retiring in 2002 at the age of 62.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse Quitmon Huddleston; six brothers—Phillip Wilson Jr., Thomas C. Wilson, John C. Wilson, Martin A. Wilson, Eugene Wilson, and Fred Wilson; and five sisters—Sarah W. Camp, Ida Ramseur, Mary L. Pagan, Anne R. Wilson, and Wilma L. Halsey.

She leaves to celebrate and cherish her memory: children, Tydus Leon Huddleston (Veronica Galloway), Adrienne “Genine” Green (Byron), and Lavilla Nadine Bredell (Andre); granddaughter, Candice Chere Darlington; seven grandsons, Keith Andreus Huddleston (Imani), Marque Russell Darlington, Adrian David Bredell, Cedric Anthony Lovelace-Huddleston (Kaylah), Jesse Nathaniel Huddleston, Andre Jared Williams (Amber) and Ian Greene; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; sisters-in- law, Odelia Wilson and Bernell R. Wilson; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.

Beatrice’s life was a beacon of faith, wisdom, and kindness. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched. She was truly a treasure, and her loving presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby, NC at 11:00 a.m.
