Mother Cora Lee Smith, daughter of the late Talbert and Ethel Smith Ingram, was born on February 1st , 1941 in Anson County. She departed this world on Sunday July 20th, 2025 at Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Union.
Mother Cora worked for Dawson in Wadesboro, NC for over 30 years. True dedication!
At the young age of 24, Cora gave her life to the Lord and joined Piney Grove Holiness Church where she served on the Deacon Board. She later joined Morning Sar Redeemed Church of God under the leadership of her baby brother, the late Elder Carl Ingram. She was a faithful mother and deaconess of Morning Star! Spreading love and compassion to anyone that she encountered. She served Morning Star faithfully – from cooking & feeding countless times to gracing us with her moving hymns.
Mother Cora was preceded in death by her husband, the late Nathaniel Smith; whom she spent over 30 years together; her eldest sister, ESallie Blankney; her baby sister, Bessie Lee Richardson; her baby brother, the late Elder Carl Ingram; her eldest daughter, Mary Ann Lindsey; her grand-daughter, Corteasha Smith; and her two brothers-in-law, Eddie Richadson and Roosevelt Blankney.
She leaves to cherish found memories and continue her legacy with her only living child, Brenda Little of Wadesboro, NC; a grandson, Carl Lindsey Jr. ( Fentress) of Charlotte, NC ; her 4 great-grandchildren – Breanna Ingram, Keevon Ingram, Sh’mya Ingram and Carl Lindsey III all of Wadesboro, NC ; her nephews, James Richadson of Wadesboro, NC, Roosevelt Blankney of Charlotte, NC, Rodney Richadson (Renee) of Sanford, NC, and Robert Blankney of Charlotte, NC; her only niece, Shavon Richardson of Wadesboro NC; her two sisters-in-law, Effie Ingram of Wadesboro, NC and Ruby Sturdivant of Lilesville, NC; her beloved cat, Simon (Nek Nek); a special godchild, Sandra Manigault (Wayne) of Greensboro, NC and a host of cousins, church family & friends, godchildren, neighbors, and everything in between.
The Homegoing Services will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will follow in the family plot of Morning Star Redeemed Church of God Cemetery, Lilesville, North Carolina.
The public viewing will be on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 12:00pm-4:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.
The family visitation will be on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 3:30-4:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel and at all other times at the Richardson residence, 415 NC 742 South, Wadesboro, NC from 4:00-7:00pm.
