With deep sorrow and eternal love, we celebrate the life of Constance E. Ambrose, who departed this life peacefully on July 19, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, at the age of 79.
Born in Harrisburg to the late Ethel and Monroe Banks, Constance was a proud graduate of John Harris High School in 1965. She led a life of purpose, service, and joy-always guided by faith and fueled by love for her family and community.
Constance, known as Connie, began her professional journey as a secretary to former Pennsylvania Governor Milton Shapp, a role she fulfilled with pride and excellence. She later went on to found "Grandma Connie's Daycare," where she cared for and nurtured
generations of children, becoming a beloved figure in the lives of countless families.
Following her work in childcare, Connie continued her dedication to serving others through a career in the food service department at the Harrisburg School District, where her talent and passion for culinary arts shined. Her food brought people together, and her meals were always prepared with skill, soul, and love.
Constance was a veteran of the Army National Guard; member of Ephraim Slaughter American Legion Post 733, where she held several officers positions including Adjutant; and a member of Top Class Social Club. As a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, she cheered on her
team with fierce loyalty and enthusiasm. She had a creative and vibrant spirit and enjoyed gardening, landscaping, painting, collecting unique jewelry, and playing cards. Most of all, she loved family gatherings, where her warmth and laughter lit up every room.
A woman of unwavering faith, Connie lived as a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, and her life was a testimony of strength, grace, and unconditional love.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Tyronda E. Carter; lovely children in love, Pastor Claude Ambrose, Karen Ambrose-Bingham and Sherrie Ambrose-Martin; beloved grandchildren, Timothy Carter, Jr., Titus Carter and Tylynn Carter; loving sisters, Sandra M. Rawls and Janet L. Banks; her "ride-or-die," Willie Buie; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Connie's life will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 25, 2025 in the Sanctuary of Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, 2447 Green Street, Harrisburg with viewing and visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon.
