A Life of Peace and Godly Prosperity, Robert Lewis Bankston was born on April 10, 1938, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, to his parents, the late Catherine Welborn Bankston and Willie Ed Bankston. Robert Lewis made a peaceful transition on the morning of July 23, 2025, at the age of 87.
From his humble beginnings, Robert Lewis carried a heart of giving, hands of helps, a quiet spirit of peace and unwavering love for his family, in-laws, friends and strangers alike. Although he only had a third-grade education, the hand of God gracefully radiated upon his life until the very end.
He began his journey in Christ by becoming a member of the Lyonsville Baptist Church in Rayle, Georgia at an early age, under the late Rev. C.W. Wright.
Robert Lewis worked in his earlier years at the chicken poultry, but later worked at Beers Construction Company, in Atlanta, Ga., where he left an impressive mark as a Labor Foreman, thereby retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.
Robert Lewis was joined in Holy Matrimony to his wife of 61 years, 3 months and 4 days, Hattie Pearl (Wright) Bankston, on April 19, 1964, in Philomath, Georgia. To this union two children were born, Cynithia and Eddie L. Bankston Sr. (whom preceded him in death).

Bankston of Decatur, Ga., his five grandchildren: Douglas A. B. Phillips III of Decatur, Ga., Knokota L. (Larissa) Bankston of Augusta, Ga., Deneiki S. Beasley of Washington, Ga., Eddie L.
