Deacon Sir Walter Raleigh Jones Jr. entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2025. He was born November 1, 1945, in Willow Springs, North Carolina to the late Sir Walter Raleigh Jones Sr. and the late Armanda Geneva Gordan Jones.
He was the oldest of six children. Sir Walter graduated from Fuquay Varina Consolidated High School with the class of 1966.
Sir Walter was drafted into the army on May 3,1967 and later, was deployed into Vietnam to serve his country. Sir Walter was honorably discharged on April 27, 1973.
Years later, he served as a dedicated supervisor at the Pathmark Supermarket in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
Sir Walter would marry in 1966 and to this union, eight children were born.
A devout Christian, Sir Walter’s unshakeable faith and love for the lord defined his life.
At an early age, he dedicated his life to Christ and joined the Good Samaritan Bright Star Church of Neptune, New Jersey where he was an active deacon, choir member, and a Sunday school teacher. Deacon Sir Walter Jones later united under Christian experience with Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC where he served as a dedicated deacon and choir member.
In August of 2014, Sir Walter Raleigh Jones would meet and marry his wife, Alberta Jones and would embrace the role of a father welcoming two daughters and one son.
Deacon Sir Walter Raleigh Jones Jr. leaves behind to cherish his loving wife of 10 years, Deaconess Alberta Jones, eight children which consisted of two singles and three sets of twins. Jacqueline Jones Harris (James) of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Wayne Jones (Susan) of Zebulon, N.C. Larry Jacob Jones (Antoinette) of Raleigh, NC, Gary Walter Jones (Emily) of Clayton, NC, Renee Michelle Jones of Raleigh, NC, Regina Jones Schenck (Reginal) of Hollywood, Florida, Wanda Faye Jones of Raleigh, NC, and Sir Walter Raleigh Jones III of Raleigh, NC.
Two bonus daughters Sharon Carter of Raleigh, NC, Pamela Dunn (Anthony) of Wendall, NC and a bonus son Reginald Miles of Houston, Texas.
Eighteen grandchildren, Dyshon, Mike-Mike, Vanita, Kyree, L-Jaye, Leyron, Latrell, LaShay, Natalie, TahNesha, Alyssa, Jessica, Adorya, Mikayla, Trey, Sir, Jazmine, Jordan and Zola, and a host of great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind his siblings, Elijah Jones of Durham, NC, Bobby Smith of New York. Loretta Harrington (Larry) of Knightdale, NC, Debrow Griffiths (Pete) of Zebulon, NC.
In addition to his parents, Sir Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Janette Watkins and brother Dassie Melvin Jones.
Deacon Sir Walter Raleigh Jones Jr. had a big heart, and everyone was touched by his affectionate laugh and his ability to make everyone he met feel like they were family.
