Shirley “Squirrley”Mae Auten Scott

Shirley “Squirrley” Mae Auten Scott passed away on July 11th, 2025 at the age of 42.
She was born on August 13th, 1982. Shirley lived in Rock Hill, SC and was a member of the Catawba Indian Nation where in her younger years she loved to do pottery, beadwork and dance to represent her tribal community. She also graduated from Rock Hill High School in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather’s Oliver Branham and Ottis Auten. Her grandmother Carrie Auten.

Shirley was survived by her husband Alfonzo Martin Scott Sr., Her son A’Jay Branham, mother Tonda Medlin, father Keith Auten (Sandra), biological father Gary Wood, sister, Amy Auten, grandmother Charlotte Ann Branham-Brown. Two nephews, Nate Auten and John Copeland and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on July 31, 2025 from 6pm-8pm at The Longhouse of the Catawba Indian Nation. 996 Avenue of the Nations, Rock Hill S.C. 29730.

Services will start at 6pm and family will receive friends afterwards at the Longhouse.
