John Hornsby Saxon (TOPGUN)

John Hornsby Saxon was born January 18, 1952, in Burke County to the late Annie and Bennie Saxon. John Hornsby Saxon entered into eternal rest at his residence on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

John Hornsby began his educational journey at Palmer Elementary School in Keysville, Georgia, and graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1971. He attended Morris Brown College and joined the United States Navy in 1974. He was baptized at First Baptist Church in Gough, Georgia, and later affiliated with The Nation of Islam. With declining health, he ended his employment career as a Quality Manufacturing Supervisor at EZGO, and retired in 2020.

The Earth gifted us with John, an individual who possessed the intellect and talent to inspire and impact the lives of others. He was devoted to supporting many in the community towards earning their GED Certificate and achieving success on the Georgia State Equivalency Exam through his tutorial services.

He had an abundance of friends who enjoyed his presence, storytelling, and a unique talent for quiz scenarios. He will be missed by those who knew him, and his legacy will remain etched in the lives of relatives and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Bennie Saxon; sister, Josephine McPherson; and brother, Cleveland White.

The life he lived, the laughter he caused, and the legacy he leaves will be forever treasured by his sons, Bilal Kareem Saxon and Jabril Bashire Saxon. Left to recall the memories they shared with their grandfather are his four grandkids, Von’Tavious Walker, Jabril Saxon Jr., Jakari Saxon, and Jayceon Walker.

He leaves to continue and cherish his memories are his siblings; Belle S. Clark, Anne [Howard] Caldwell, (Surprise, AZ), Willa Pearl [John] McKinney, Mary Saxon Hobbs, (San Bernardino, CA) Ruth Moore, Dr. Ruby [Frank] Myles, Dr. Eula Saxon [George] Dean, (Scottsdale, AZ) Early Lloyd, Benjamin [Patricia] Saxon, and Dr. Betty Jean Saxon, (Monterey, CA) and a host of nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road.

Homegoing services will be on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., at Noah’s Ark Baptist Church, 4466 SR HWY 80W Keysville, GA,
