Carey Lee "Heat" Banks was born on March 19, 1949, in Jackson, Mississippi, and entered eternal rest on July 25, 2025. His life was one of grit, laughter, loyalty, and love-a journey shaped by wisdom, resilience, and a deep sense of right and wrong.
A roofer by trade and a provider by nature, Carey believed in building things that lasted-whether roofs or relationships. He didn't speak love in flowery words, but showed it through steady presence, protection, and honesty. Known for his firm ways, bold humor, and legendary storytelling, Carey brought joy to all who knew him. His home, affectionately known as the "Boom Boom Room," was a haven filled with music, meals, and memories.
He was the heart of his family and a quiet anchor to his circle.
Carey leaves behind his children, Erica Whitlock and Jake Bias (Taneicia); grandchildren Ladaisha Davenport, Takiya Whitlock, Kalesha Bias, Kari Bias, Anaya Whitlock, and Jayonna Bias; and great-grandchildren Christian E. Bias, Christopher Bias Jr., and Tre'Mir C. Harvey. He is lovingly remembered by siblings Roosevelt Wilson, Alberta Newell-Gill (Billy), and Cathernell Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; his brother-in-spirit David Campbell; and a dear friend Bettersten Wade. He now rests in peace, reunited with his parents Dan Banks and Rosie Bell Holt; wife Elaine Bias; son Carey Bias; grandson Christopher Bias; and siblings Columbus Wilson, Jessie Holt, and Minnie Powell. Though we grieve his absence, we honor the love, laughter, and legacy he leaves behind. His was a life well lived, and deeply felt. The echo of his love will never fade.
