Mr. Sherman Woodard Sullivan was born on October 7, 1944, to the late Mrs. Christine Woodard Sullivan and the late Mr. William Sullivan, Jr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.
He attended Lincoln Park School in Upson County. In his late teens, he met Mrs. Christine Maynard. They were childhood sweethearts in school, and they eventually married on May 11, 1963. They were the parents of four children, Calvin, Matthew, David and April.
To support his family, he worked at Martha Mills until he retired. During his spare time, he was an auto mechanic. They shared sixty-two years together.
During his leisure time, he loved working on cars and trucks, watching CNN, keeping up with the news and in his earlier years, he loved gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three children, David Lee Sullivan, Matthew Sullivan and Calvin Lamar Sullivan, a grandson, Justen Sullivan, two sisters, Teriser Sullivan and Ida Mae Sullivan, Two brothers, Clarence Sullivan and Robert Sullivan. On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the Lord called his name. He answered the call, and his spirit returned to the heavenly father.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Christine Maynard Sullivan; one daughter, Mrs. April Holmes; nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ms. Diane Sullivan and Ms. Sandra Sullivan; one brother, Mr. Billy Ray Sullivan all of Thomaston, GA; one daughter-in law, Mrs. Pamela Sullivan of Lagrange, GA and one brother-in-law, Mr. Larry Waters of Valdosta, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
