Mr. James Henry Worthy

Mr. James Henry Worthy was born on November 8, 1954, to the late Mrs. Alice Searcy Worthy and the late Mr. George Worthy, Sr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. He joined the Olive Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He attended public school in Upson County and graduated from Drake High School.

After high school, he joined the United States Navy on July 17, 1974, and served until July 15, 1977. He received an Honorable discharge. After returning home, he found employment at Thomaston Mills and also at Keadle Lumber Company.

During his later years, he met Ms. Annette Collins. They were joined in marriage on May 13,2011. He was a loving and faithful husband. They shared fourteen years together.

James loved talking to his friends and making new friendships. He never met a stranger he couldn't talk to. He was friendly and outgoing and would help anyone he could. During his leisure time, he enjoyed talking on the phone, cooking, watching his cooking show and watching westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Lizzie Worthy, Martha Dennis and Dorothy Worthy; two brothers, Fred Worthy and George Worthy, Jr. On Sunday July 20, 2025, the Lord called his name. He answered the call, and his spirit took flight and returned home. He will be greatly missed by his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Annette Worthy of Thomaston, GA; one daughter, Ms. Jackie Worthy of Thomaston, GA; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Antionette Spell of Las Vegas, NV and Ms. Shanice Hobbs of Thomaston, GA; four grandchildren, Jakeesecia Worthy, Mon-yae Worthy, Tabious Worthy and Kennedi Rae Spell; two great-grandchildren, Ava Jaleeah Harris and Christopher James Murphy, III; two sisters, Ms. Deborah Worthy of Winston, GA and Ms. Georgia Mae Worthy of Thomaston, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Worthy and Mrs. Jessie (Anthony) Lockhart both of Thomaston, GA and Mrs. Nettie Collins of Barnesville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
