Obituary For Mrs. Essie Mae Blount

Essie Mae Blount, 88 of Dillon County, South Carolina earned her heavenly wings on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. Essie was born in Hamer, South Carolina on January 23,1930 to the late Velvie D. McCall and Thomas Jefferson Whittington.

She attended Hamer Middle School in Dillon County, South Carolina.

Essie was married to Robert K. Blount on January 1, 1949; they were married about forty years.

Essie worked as a homemaker throughout her adult life. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch with family and friends, going to church, and listening to gospel music. She liked watching the Dukes of Hazard television show and Westerns. Her favorite foods were fish, Red Rock Soda, and cheese puffs. Essie never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.

Essie is preceded in death by Fred Blount, Robert Lee Blount (Francis), Virginia Sears (Fredrick), Ella Mae Blount, Mary Alice Brown (Charles), and Corey Palmer (grandson).

Essie is survived by a sister: Hattie May McCoy; five children: Wiliam ( Patricia) Blount, Wade Thomas Blount, Ruby Lee (Henry) Palmer, James Clifford Blount, John Charles (Anjie) Blount, eighteen grandchildren; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, two former daughters-n-law: Karen Adams and Michelle Lackey and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you to niece, Dot Carmichael, for the love and care giving during Essie’s illness
