TYLER--Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Clayton, 78, are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at New Canaan Baptist Church Whitehouse with Rev. Ronnie Williams eulogist. Burial will follow in New Canaan Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Mrs. Clayton was born in Smith County on January 5, 1947 to both the late Harlee and Armissie Turner Wallace and transitioned on July 29, 2025.

She attended Stanton High School worked in food service and was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church where she was former choir member.

Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her spouse: Jerry L. Clayton Sr.; sons: Joe L Butler and Andrew Butler of Tyler, Texas, Ricardo Butler of Oregon; daughters: Jacqulyn Nwanonyiri and Areassa Butler of Tyler, Texas; brother: Lewis (Debbie) Wallace of Tyler, Texas;stepchildren: Jerry Clayton Jr, Derrick Clayton and Timothy Clayton of Tyler, Texas; Carol Shelton and Christy Shelton of Jacksonville, Texas and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 8, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
