With heavy hearts and cherished memories, the family of Patrice Andrea Sims, affectionately known throughout the community as Mrs. Mapp, announces her peaceful passing on July 28, 2025.
Born on October 14, 1973, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the late William and Essie Mae Sims, Patrice was a proud graduate of Brooks County High School, Class of 1993. While in school, she participated in basketball and the Powder Puff team showcasing the same energy and determination that would later define her life.
Patrice worked faithfully in the Brooks County School System for over 15 years, becoming a beloved presence among students and staff. She was more than an employee she was a mentor, encourager, and a second mother to many. Children in the community knew they had someone who believed in them.
She was a proud supporter of the Brooks County Lady Trojans and could be found at Friday night football games cheering with unmatched spirit. Her school pride was undeniable, and her love for the youth never wavered.
A woman of strong faith, Patrice was a dedicated member of Calvary Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a youth department leader. Her faith, music, and mentorship reflected her heart for service.
Patrice was preceded in death by her parents, William and Essie Mae Sims, her baby brother Patrick Sims, her grandson Camari, and her beloved aunt Ossie Lee Johnson.
She leaves behind her beloved “6 Pack” her six children who brought her endless joy: Domonique (Nynesha), Jasmine (Ronald), Keyanna, Katelyn (Vee), Eiron (Eliza), and Iyonni.
She also helped raise and deeply loved her Godchildren: Khadijah Sutton, Kiera Thomas, Kymoni Richardson, and Darius Smith.
She was the proud grandmother of: DaMarien, DeRyiah, Karis, Azariana, Ayla, Sanaa, Samajé, Braylin, Raylen, Syeer, Nyeer, Eiron Jr., Ryleigh, Zoe, Taylor, and Alayah.
She is survived by her siblings: Wilda, Cynthia, Sylvia, William (Keyshia), and Wanda, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who adored her.
Patrice also leaves behind her Godfathers, Aubrey Williams and Erol Cobb; and a group of ladies who meant the world to her: Chanika, Stephanie, and Sherika.
Her bond with her cousins the “Palm Beach Crew” was unbreakable, and she cherished them deeply.
Patrice will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, nurturing heart, unwavering faith, and fierce love for her family and community. Her presence was a blessing, and her legacy will continue in every life she touched.
Visitation will be Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Stevens-McGhee chapel from 3PM-7PM.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 3PM at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Williams, officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration.
