Leonard Edward Woods, PhD, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on August 15, 2025. The funeral service will be held Friday, August 22, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, 8897 County Rd. 45, Tuskegee, AL, 36083, Reverend Braynard Collins, Pastor, Rev. Kenneth Jones eulogizing. Interment will follow at the church's cemetery with the staff of E. G. Cummings Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dr. Woods was born on February 7, 1942, in Tuskegee, AL to the union of David and Nancy Woods. He accepted Christ and became a member of Mount Andrew's Baptist Church and later Spring Hill Baptist Church in Tuskegee, AL. Dr. Woods completed his primary education at Macon County Public Schools in Tuskegee, AL. He attended Alabama State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1964. He later attended Howard University of Law, earning a J.D. degree in 1969. He finished his education at Michigan State University, earning a Master of Art in Education Administration in 1972 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1990.
