Obituary For Bernard McClinton

Bernard McCinton was born in Bartow, Florida in 1945 to Henry and Elnora McClinton. He later moved to Vero Beach (Gifford) in 1950. Bernard was a faithful member of Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the User Board. He was a graduate of Gifford High School Class of 1966. He served in the US Army in 1966 and also received the Medals Purple Heart. He served as a basketball referee for over 20 years, was a member of the American Legion Post 181, enjoyed bowling, but his love and passion was in the game of golf. He was one of the original Par 5 Golfers. He was given the name “Tiger Woods of Gifford” by his daughter Tonya. But most of all he loved his family.

On December 28, 2018 the Angels came and quietly closed his eyes.

Bernard leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 48 years, Marilyn McClinton; daughters, LeVonia Bright (Lonnie Scott), Tonya McClinton (Craig) Walker all of Vero Beach, FL, Takeacea (Christopher) Mitchell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; siblings, Olivia Sanders (Donald) , Patricia McClinton of Vero Beach, FL and Henry (Glenda Sue) McClinton of Palm Bay, FL; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including a very dear friend, riding partner and brother for over 30 years, Johnny Thornton.

Public visitation for Mr. Bernard McClinton will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford, Florida from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A Celebration of Life will convene on Saturday, January 5, 2019 also at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford, FL beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Gifford Cemetery.
