Doris Hudson Joseph

08/22/1935 - 08/28/2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Hudson Joseph.

Mrs. Doris Hudson Joseph, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, educator, and friend, was born on August 22, 1935, in Madison, Florida, to the late Dave Hudson and Georgia Mae Bradley Hudson. On August 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of family, she peacefully transitioned into eternal rest.

Doris lived a life filled with faith, service, and purpose. A proud graduate of Madison County Training School, Class of 1953, she went on to pursue higher education at Florida A&M University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1957. With a passion for shaping young minds, Doris devoted 40 remarkable years to the field of education, touching countless lives and inspiring generations of students. Her unwavering commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from her. She retired in 1997, leaving behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and dedication.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Before moving to Tallahassee, she was a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Madison, Florida, Doris served faithfully as Financial Secretary for many years. Her service to the Lord extended beyond the walls of the church, as she lived each day with grace, compassion, and generosity. Doris was also a proud and active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Nu Omega Omega Chapter, where she embraced the values of sisterhood, scholarship, and service throughout her life.

To her family and friends, Aunt Doris was a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. She had a way of making everyone feel special and believed in the power of education, faith, and family. Her warm smile and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sister, Mary Lois Chester (Bennie) of Titusville, FL; nieces, Deborah Taylor of Tallahassee, FL, Ernestine Chester Morgan (Everard) of Apopka, FL, and Edra Taylor of Tallahassee, FL; nephews, Dave Chester (Laura) of West Chester, OH, and Jermyn Chester of Richmond Heights, GA; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dave and Georgia Mae Bradley Hudson; sisters, Cleo Hudson Taylor (Eddie) and Jocile Hudson Brown (Ernest); and brothers, T.C. Hudson and Tommy Hudson.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that her life was a beautiful example of love, integrity, and faith. Well done, good and faithful servant.

Committal Ceremony is Friday, September 5, 2025, 3pm at Southside Cemetery, 3484 Capital Circle SW, Tallahassee, Florida 32310
