William L. Chatman

Mr. William L. ‘Wig” Chatman was born on Sunday, April 27, 1958 in Talladega, Alabama to the union of the late Mr. Joseph Jackson and the late Mrs. Hattie Chatman-Jackson.

At an early age he confessed Christ and united with Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Eastaboga, Alabama. He was educated in the Talladega County school system and graduated from Munford High School.

William retired from Talladega Foundry as a forklift operator. On the weekends he loved to play spades… and was hard to beat. His favorite TV shows were wrestling and westerns.

Mr. Chatman leaves to cherish his memories: his son, Quentin Allen of Knoxville, TN; his daughter, Conswalia Chatman-Phillips of Talladega, AL; his grandchildren, Ta’Jayvion Ragland, Xavier Phillips and Desmond Phillips of Talladega, AL, and Reginald Phillips, Jr. of Childersburg, AL, Nathan Lokey, Bryson Allen, Legacy Allen, Ky’Asia Biggs and Kiyana Allen of Knoxville, TN; his sisters, Annie Mae Stamps and Hattie (Henry) Truss of Talladega, AL and Helen (McArthur) McElderry of Munford, AL; his brothers, Luther Chatman of Munford, AL and Edward (Nancy) Chatman of Talladega, AL; a special daughter, Patricka Weed of Talladega, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, Mr. Chatman was called to his eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Chatman; his son-in-law, Reginald Phillips, Sr.; and his siblings, Willie Chatman and O. C. Chatman.

William will be sorely missed by those who knew him and loved him.
