Mr. John Leonard Brooks Sr., 74, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Mr. John Leonard “Bubba” Brooks Sr. was born on May 16,1951 in Gadsden, AL to Maryland Sewell Craig, Leonard Books & William Craig.
He obtained his GED in the Navy. From 1969-1971 He started his career in the Navy and was stationed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and then on to Spain.
After discharge from the Military, he worked at Gulf State Steel Plant, the Coca Cola Plant, Goodyear, the Housing Authority, and was self-employed with Brooks Construction Co.
He was a member of 16th Street Baptist Church.
His hobbies were riding while listening to his music, hunting, fishing, drag racing, working on his cars, rebuilding motors, and construction work. He loved his Mustangs. He was an Alabama fan, and he enjoyed watching football. He played the guitar in his free time, and he could take a piece of junk and make it work.
His favorite saying was, “Whatcha got for me”, and “Bring me something to drink with a lot of ice in it.”
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Maryland & William Craig and Leonard Brooks; Jerry Brooks, Sandra Brooks, Porter Brooks, Darius Craig and Lorene (Kenneth) Craig Wolley and Joyce Ann Craig.
He leaves to cherish his memories to: his daughters, Jeanetta (Sugar) & Thomas Graham and Betty Lynn Brooks; Sons, John Brooks Jr. and Eddie (Felisha) Brooks; Mother of four kids birthed with him, Betty Brooks; grandchildren, Tevin (Da’Arie) Graham, Tajhani Graham, Janitha (Boom Boom) Graham, Jamiah Mostello. Jayli, Carmon, Kimi, & Sky Brooks, and D’Ryan Bowden; great-grandchildren, Marcy Pointer, Tevin Graham Jr., Dailee Graham and Harley Timmons; sisters, Amanda (Fred) Tuck, and Maryland Gene Brooks Holloway; brothers, William Frankie (Angela) Craig and Justin Brooks; in-laws, Jana Brooks, Eddie Calloway Jr., Larry McAdams, Tyra Brooks and Ellis Holloway; special friends, Jeffery Kidd, David Harvell, Mr. Duckett, Ralph Avery, Dwnyell Charles, Stacey Alfred, Phillip Byers and Reverend Ethridge; special cousin, John Lester Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be from 12noon-5pm on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm at the GOL Activity Center, 603 E. Broad Street, E. Gadsden, AL 35903, Saturday, September 13, 2025.
