Mr. Willie Roger “Rob” Thompson Sr. peacefully passed away on September 5, 2025 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born in Louisville, Jefferson County, GA. on November 20, 1956, to the now late Roger Kelly Thompson and Eula Bell Gordon Thompson.

Public viewing will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 at Davis Funeral Home, 725 Beech Street, Louisville, GA from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. Thompson will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, located at 5116 Belmont Road, Louisville, Georgia 30434. Interment will follow in the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery.

In 2019, “Rob” as he was lovingly called, relocated to Lakeview, Alabama. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System and attended Louisville High School. A hardworking and dedicated professional, he was the proud Owner and Operator of Thompson Trucking, and spent over two decades on the road as a committed truck driver. His strong work ethic and integrity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

For many years he was also a faithful member of Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church, where he worshiped and served with dedication throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his loving wife, Mrs. Patricia Gibbons Thompson, with whom he shared many cherished years.

He is survived by his son: Willie Roger Thompson Jr. (Joslyn), Lakeview, AL; his daughter: ShaMonica Patrice Battle (DeMarcus), Augusta, GA; his sisters: Elder Dr. Gloria Thompson and Brenda Walden (Thomas), Augusta, GA; his brothers: Harold Thompson (Jeanette) and Nixon Thompson; mother-in-law, Daisy Thompson, Pemberton, N.J.; brothers-in-law: Ronnie Thompson, Augusta, Georgia, and Darell Thompson (Terry) of Augusta, GA; his sister-in-law, Rita Thompson of Pemberton, New Jersey, also mourns his passing. In addition, Rob was blessed with five grandchildren—Joshua Scott, Willie R. Thompson III, Skyi P. Thompson, Drew N. Battle, and Drea P. Battle—and a God-son, Cedric Thompson. He is also remembered fondly by a host of other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Active Pallbearers are Cedric Thompson, Ja’Quez Young, Ke’Darius Thompson, Chase Hicks, Reginald Smith, and Christopher Brown. The officers of the Hardeman Springfield Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Thompson's life was one of purpose, commitment, and deep compassion for those he loved. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know him.
