Charles Allen Kemp was born on March 3, 1968, to the late Henry Kemp and Doreatha Hayes. He entered eternal rest on Monday, September 15, 2025, at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital.
Charles was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated from Palatka High School, Class of 1986. He attended Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach and later enlisted in the Army Reserve.
Charles was all about family and loved being surrounded by those he loved. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and eating crabs. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting the Orange Park Kennel Club, where he loved watching the dogs run the track.
Charles was preceded in eternal rest by his paternal grandparents, J.T. Armster and Alma Davis; maternal grandmother, Magnolia Byrd; father, Henry Kemp; and two beloved sisters, Joyce Deering and Shawn Kemp.
Precious memories of Charles will forever remain with his mother, Doreatha Hayes Verdell; like a father, James Thomas; five sons: Charles Kemp, Jr., Anthony Kemp, Demonta Kemp of Atlanta, GA, Chad Kemp, and Dominic Kemp of Palatka, FL; one daughter, Neveah Kemp of Palatka, FL; two grandchildren, Kya and Demerri; brothers, Felton (Fannie) Kemp, Chad (Contrenia) Smith, Herry Kemp Jr., Henry Kemp Jr., Terrance Kemp, and Chris Marlow; sisters, Veronica (Jake) McCaskill, Kizzy Kemp, Lee’aka Kemp, Lee’Quandra Kemp, Lee’Quosha Kemp, Lee’Undra Kemp, Tia Kemp, Tamara Kemp, and Sonya Tiler; aunt, Mittie (Andrew) McRae; great-aunts and uncles, Retha Mae Adams, Delia Holey, and R.C.; like aunts, Lennette Maxwell and Patricia Douglas; like an uncle, Richard Carr; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Passionate First Born Church in Palatka, with a public viewing one hour before the service
