OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 W. College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Wesley Winfrey, III, 27, who entered eternal rest on Friday, September 26, 2025 at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Rev. Dr. Larry J. Lloyd of Spirit of Liberty and Rev. Johnny Offord of Greater New Hope Baptist Church will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Winfrey’s memories are being cherished by: his son, Courtlyn J. Winfrey of Lafayette, LA; his father, Wesley Winfrey, Jr. (Kathleen Fay) of Opelousas, LA and his mother, Tracy Lazard of Lafayette, LA; three sisters, Katelyn Lazard and Racheal Rene, both of Lafayette, LA and Cathryn Bill of Beaumont, TX; paternal grandfather, Wesley Winfrey, Sr. of Opelousas, LA and maternal grandmother, Lucille Taylor (John Taylor, Jr.) of Opelousas, LA; one uncle, Anthony Winfrey of Opelousas, LA; three aunts, Shanika Rochon, Staice Lazard White and Shawanna Lazard-Lavergne (Reginald) all of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his maternal grandparents, Warren Lazard, Sr. and Betty Lazard; paternal great grandparents, Holland Jason and Lucille J. Lavergne; step grandmother, Elise Smith Lazard; and an uncle, Warren Lazard, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Spirit of Liberty, 2841 Louisiana Ave., Lafayette, LA. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ in Opelousas, LA.
