MR. DARRIN HEMPHILL, beloved son of the Doris Wilson-Hemphill and the late Jimmie Hemphill, was born June 3, 1970 in New York, NY. He peacefully departed this life October 7, 2025 at his home in North Chesterfield, VA.

At an early age Darrin was baptized and joined St. Luke AME Church, New York, NY. His relationship with God would remain an anchor throughout his life. He later became a dedicated member of Broad Rock Baptist Church in Richmond, VA, under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Cook.

Darrin was a proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High Scholl in Bronx, NY. He spent over ten years at Port of Virginia and later brought his diligence and sharp mind to Anord Mardix (USA) Inc. in Henrico, VA where he served faithfully as a Data Entry Clerk.

But to those who knew him best, he was the laughter at the family cookout, the calm voice during storms, and the one whose New York style made heads turn everywhere he went. His friends in New York knew him as the guy in the room who could turn any ordinary moment into a story worth telling. Family knew him as the cousin with the easy smile, a big heart, and a playful spirit that never faded with time.

Darrin loved life deeply- his family, his friends, and we can’t forget his two dogs, Thor and Draco, who were his constant companions. He cheered passionately for every New York team- the Giants, the Knicks, and anyone else repping his hometown.

Though his time here feels too short, his love and light remain with all who knew him. Darrin had a way of reminding us to keep God first, to love each other openly, and to never lose the joy of family. He lived that message daily- through kindness, laughter, and the way he made every person feel seen and valued.

Darrin leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughter- Amaris Hemphill, Richmond, VA; his devoted mother- Doris Wilson-Hemphill, North Chesterfield, VA; three aunts- Dorothy (George) Holmes, South Hill, VA; Mary Kilebrew, Hillcrest Heights, MD, and Christine Furbert, Charlotte, NC; mother of Amaris- Jenny Marin, Las Vegas, NV, cherished nieces and nephews- Aysia and Tyrone Hicks, Jr., Shianne, Daniel, and Madison Donavan; special cousins- Charnell (Tyrone) Hicks, Wallicia McCaskill, Dewayne (Kendra) Davis, Deborah Feggins, Tyrone Davis, David Lewis, Jr., Lucille Thomas, and Sarah Ellison; Godmothers- Sarah Pearson and Mary Palmer; Godsisters- Colease and Ebony Palmer; beloved friends- Daniel Donavan and Lanier Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him deeply.

Darrin’s laughter, compassion, and unwavering faith touched countless lives. Though his voice is silent, his presence will never fade. His legacy of love, respect, and faith will live on- always in our hearts.
