David Swain

Passed 10/14/2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. David Swain.

David Swain was born on September 24, 1944, to Clifford and Minnie Lee Swain in McCrayville, Georgia. At a young age, David accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior under the pastorship of Elder T. L. Geter and remained a faithful member of Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church until his passing.

David graduated from Mt. Moriah High School in Attapulgus, Georgia in 1962. He went on to pursue his passion for barbering, earning a certificate from Lincoln Barbering School in Tallahassee, Florida. Utilizing his God-given talent, David became well known as the “Community Barber” in the Havana Community.

As a dedicated traveling barber, he often visited homes, senior facilities, and hospitals, providing haircuts and care to those who were sick or shut-in. Alongside his barbering, David also worked at Englehard Mining and eventually retired from the Florida Legislature, Florida Senate in Tallahassee.

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, David took flight and went home to be with the Lord. His love and legacy will be cherished forever by his devoted siblings: Theodore and Jerome Swain and Delois “Dee” Rush; his nephews and nieces: Gregory Swain, Calvin Calhoun (Bianca), Konata Calhoun (Kenisha), Justin Swain, Dakarai Calhoun (Rica), Thaddeus Wright, Sharon Swain, Jacqueline Davis, Tywanna Swain, Angela Bolds, and Jena Williams; brother-in-law Willie Frank Brundidge; four special friends, Brenda and Patsy Swain, Canaan Jones, Alonna Hudson; numerous great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Minnie Swain, and his wife, Sarah B. Swain.

The Homegoing Service will be Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Primitive Baptist Church, 7793 Tallahassee Highway, Attapulgus, GA. with burial at Church Cemetery.

On behalf of the staff and management of Strong & Jones Funeral Home, Inc., we would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. David Swain.
