On September 21, 1948, the late George W. and H. Dorothy Kirkland were blessed with a shining jewel named Linda Virginia Kirkland. She was reared in Landrum, South Carolina, and was educated through the Spartanburg County School System, and later received an associate’s degree from Isothermal Community College. Linda retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from White Oak Manor – Tryon.
On October 16, 2025, a phenomenal life was celebrated as God welcomed home a devoted servant. Her enduring legacy, inspiring spirit and cherished memories will forever be a testament to her profound impact on the lives of her family, and so many more.
She leaves in the picture gallery of life, her loving husband, John Douglas, Sr. Three loving sons: John Douglas, Jr. (Aileen), Frederick Douglas, and Roosevelt Douglas, Sr. Three daughters: Andrea Geer, Kendra Douglas, and Keisha McLean (Reginald).Ten grandchildren: Demetria Shanice Byrd (deceased), Roosevelt Douglas, Jr., Xavier Douglas, Angel Harrison, Zion Douglas, India Staley, Chelsey Allison, Marcus Douglas, Madison McLean, and Braylon McLean. Seven sisters: Deborah Morrison, Dolly Porter, Carolyn Bellman (deceased), PansyWarren (Andrew) Tanya McMullen, Wanda Saffold and Denna Kirkland. Two brothers: George W. Kirkland, Jr., (Endy) and Michael T. Kirkland. Two sisters-in-law: Mary (Fred-deceased) Counts and Ann Douglas; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Garrison Chapel Baptist Church, Tryon, NC. Burial will follow in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tryon,NC.
