On Friday, October 24, 2025, Hayward Lee Jones, Jr., affectionately known as “Tracy”, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at his residence. He was born in Martinsville, VA on September 21, 1955, to Myrtle Jewell Smith Jones and the late Hayward Lee Jones, Sr.

Tracy was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1973. After graduating from Martinsville High School, Tracy enrolled at Marquette University where he received a degree in Political Science in 1978. He retired from Piedmont Community Services after 25 years of service and from Peer Recovery Connection where he was the former Executive Director.

Tracy became a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated in 1985. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Greensboro, NC.

Tracy leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Emily Hairston Jones of the home; daughter, Miranda S. Jones and special son-in-law to be, Samuel Cooke, both of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Anthony M. Jones (Jackie) of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Linda Diane Monroe (Tracy) of Pinehurst, NC and Thalya J. Hairston (George) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Pastor Matthew Brown, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 360 Arrowhead Circle, Spencer, VA.

A public viewing will be available on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 750 Parkway Dr., Martinsville beginning on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, through Friday, October 31, 2025, between the hours of 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
