Willie Boatwright

Passed 04/29/2025

Willie Steve Boatwright was born on July 23, 1957 to Willie T. and Eddie Lee Corbitt Boatwright in Houston County,

Alabama. Steve, known and called by all “Boatwright”, was the oldest of 4 siblings.

After his dad’s passing, he could no longer continue his education in the public school system. To help support his family, he used his common skill sense to begin working on the farm in Bay Springs, AL. He was never a “May Liker”, may like he knew everything, but he became a master of all the John Deere equipment for over 30 years. When he moved to Dothan, AL, he would do little simple jobs for various people.

After working a long full life, he retired. He would sit on his front porch with his good friends and neighbors. Then his health began to fail. He moved in to the Crown Healthcare Facility in Eufaula, AL.

While at the cross roads on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Willie Steve Boatwright, tightly closed his eyes for a long needed rest. His decision was finally made. He touched the Master’s hand, and he is gone to a land where there is no more sickness, suffering or pain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie T. and Eddie Lee Boatwright; a brother,

Freddie Lee Boatwright and a sister, Betty Sue (Alexander) Donald.

He leaves to cherish fond memories, a brother, Jimmy Cornelius Boatwright, a nephew, Howard Doran Boatwright, a loving and devoted sister-in-law, Lenora "Pie" Butler; nieces, nephews and a host of cousins all of Dothan, AL.
