Mrs. JoAnne Ogletree Walker

Mrs. JoAnne Ogletree Walker, daughter of Mother Mary Walker Ogletree and the late Deacon Melvin C. Ogletree, was born on September 1, 1962, in Barnesville, Georgia. She was one of nine children. On Wednesday morning, October 15, 2025, JoAnne peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin; three sisters, Janice, Marilyn, and Kathy; and two brothers, Craig and Charles.

At an early age, JoAnne accepted Christ and joined East Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Barnesville, Georgia, where she served faithfully in many capacities over the years, such as singing in the choir and attending Sunday School. JoAnne later relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, where she united with Coke Memorial United Methodist Church under the leadership of her sisters, Reverend Dr. Kathy Ogletree Goodwin, and continued to worship the Lord and serve his people. Upon returning to her hometown in 2017, she received her spiritual leadership from Pastor Craig A. Ogletree and later joined Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, where Reverend Delvrick Blackmon serves as pastor.

JoAnne graduated from Lamar County Comprehensive High School in 1980. She was united in holy matrimony to John Perry Walker Jr. on July 1, 2017. She was affectionately known by him as “JoJo”. Through this union, she was blessed with two bonus daughters, Marquita Jenee' and Brittany, and two grandchildren whom she adored, Jayden and Ava. She was employed with the Monroe County Municipal Court as a Deputy Clerk of the Probate Court. She previously worked for the Social Security Administration for over 20 years.

JoAnne will be remembered by everyone for her kindness, devotion to family and friends, and her steadfast faith in God. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, shopping, gathering with family, and being “Grammy Jo” Jayden and Ava.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Mary L. Ogletree; devoted husband, John Perry Walker Jr; two daughters, Marquita Jenee' Walker and Brittany N. Walker; two grandchildren, Jayden Redding and Ava walker-McInnis; two brothers, Carl (Imgard) Ogletree and Bernard Ogletree both of Barnesville, Georgia; one sister, Carilyn Ogletree Lawrence of Milner, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Jaqueline (Larry) O'Neal, Gloria Ogletree, and Sherrelle Ogletree; two brothers-in-law, Alvin Goodwin of Nashville, Tennessee and Andre Walker of Barnesville, Georgia; mother-in-law; Catherine J. Walker of Barnesville, Georgia; aunt, Ms. Charlotte Fallings of Barnesville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
