Barbara Jean McCoy

Barbara Jean McCoy was born March 27, 1938 to James and Lorine Shields Harris in Austin, Texas.
She met and married Doc Van McCoy, Jr. They were married for 64 years with Four Children. Mr. & Mrs. Traveled extensively while in the Air Force and afterwards.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Garmon Street and united with Chestnut Grove Baptist Church when she moved to Athens in 2021.
Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by Mr. McCoy, their daughters, Barbara Vanette Raines and Loran McCoy, grandson, Doc Eric McCoy, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Beverly McCoy.
Mrs. McCoy leaves to cherish her memory: her sons - Doc McCoy of Waveland, MS and Kenneth(Orlencia) McCoy of Athens, GA; son-in-law, Julius Raines; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brother, James(Pat) Harris of California, brother-in-law, Walter(Yvonne) McCoy of Columbia, SC, "adopted daughters" - Regina Whitehurst and Brenda Kirvin, and many other relatives and friends.
