Eldoris McGill
November 8, 1935 - October 28, 2025

Mrs. ElDoris McAllister McGill was born the second child of twelve. She lived on a farm in Mt. Enterprise, Texas. Mrs. McGill finished High School at Minden High School in Henderson, Texas. She was the second in her family to finish school and attend college. After graduating high school she went to Texas College in Tyler, Texas where she majored in Education. Mrs. Eldoris McGill is a proud graduate of Texas College.

After completing her degree, she moved back home and taught school in the Minden School System for six years before integration. While teaching in Minden, she even had the pleasure of teaching some of her brothers and sisters. During this time, she also married her late husband, Ezeal McGill whom she met while in college. He was also an education major at Texas College. They both began their teaching career in the Henderson, TX area. To this union, three children were born, Reginald McGill of Mt. Pleasant, LaShun Scott [Reginald Scott] of Tyler Texas, Seleria Fletcher [Everett Dwayne Fletcher] of Houston Texas. Several Grandchildren; Jillian McGill, Jacoby McGill, Everett Fletcher II, Desmond Fletcher and Sionna Fletcher.

ElDoris and Ezeal eventually moved to Tyler, TX and purchased their first home together. She was a substitute for Tyler ISD for a year and eventually sought employment outside of Tyler. She obtained a teaching position in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, which was the home of her late husband, Ezeal. She taught school there for 2 years before they made the decision to make Mt. Pleasant home. Mrs. McGill taught kindergarten for 26 years in the Mt. Pleasant school system. She loved teaching Kindergarten and served as a long-term teacher at Vivian Fowler Elementary until her retirement. She was a long-standing member of the Texas State Teachers Association. It was her belief that all students could learn when given the opportunity. They may not all learn in the same way or at the same time but with support they would be successful.

Mrs. McGill and her husband were active members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX. ElDoris was a member of the Ladies Mission Workers, she taught Youth Sunday School and served on the Culinary Team. After the passing of her late husband Ezeal, she moved back to Tyler to stay with her daughter, LaShun.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children Reginald, LaShun and Seleria, her grandchildren, two sisters Nellie Hill and Debra Alexander, and a brother Rev. Dewayne McAllister, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

ElDoris loved everyone and touched the lives of so many children and families. All that knew her loved her for her kind heart and gently touch. May her beautiful life continue to be an example for others.……In God’s Precious Name.
