Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Philopena G. Davis, of Decatur, Georgia, will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at Antioch East Baptist Church 2352 Old Rex Morrow Road Ellenwood, GA. 30294, with remains placed in repose at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Michael A. Smith, Pastor officiating. Public Viewing and Visitation will be held at the mortuary Thursday, October 30, 2025, 5:00 P.M.– 7:00 P.M.
Philopena was the first of five children born to the union of the late Julia and John Henry Gardner, Sr. She was a devoted wife; married to Frank A. Davis, Sr. until the time of his passing. She was a woman of deep faith and was a dedicated member of her church for more than 50 years. Philopena was an avid gardener, masterful pound cake maker, and revered for her famous hibiscus tea. She never met a stranger and was kind and gentle-spirited towards everyone that she encountered.
Mama Phil, as she was affectionately called by many, leaves to cherish her legacy and love, her children, Frank Davis, Jr. (Valerie), Jewise Davis, and bonus daughter, Toni Carraway; grandchildren, Adrianna Brown and Anthony Phillip Davis, Sr.; great grandchildren, Madyson Hogan, Aria Atwell, Anthony “AJ” Davis, Jr., and Milan Davis; sister, Dorothy Banks; brothers, John Henry Gardner, Jr. (Mae) and Tommy Gardner; and a host of loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10:30 A.M. at Antioch East Baptist Church 2352 Old Morrow Road Ellenwood, GA. 30294.
