VIRGINIA WASHINGTON HOLMES, affectionately known as “Musalina”, daughter of the late Earnest Boswell and Virginia Broadie Boswell, was born November 19, 1941 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life October 31, 2025, in VCU-MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA.

At an early age she was baptized and joined Gethsemane Baptist Church. She attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

She later moved to New York and joined Corner Stone Baptist church, where she sang in the gospel Choir.

Virginia was married to the late George Washington, and they were blessed with a son, Reginald. Later she married Sherman Holley and to this union a son was born, the late Sherman Holly, Jr. On September 5, 1998 Virginia married the late Ricardo Holmes.

She was employed as a Beautician at Gold Water Memorial Hospital and she also was the owner of the “Hair-Beauty Is Yours Shop,” in New York City, NY. Her son Reginald helped her run the shop.

Virginia was an actress, employed by Mitchell’s Acting Gill at NY City Acting Studio, New York, NY. She appeared in several movies, to name a few: TLC and Carlito’s Way with Al Pacino.

Virginia believed in helping others, on Memorial Day while residing in NY, she would feed the neighborhood because of the support they had given her.

In 1994 she moved back to Virginia. She was a hair stylist in the hair salon at the local Walmart in South Hill. After visiting several churches, she made Bloom Hill Baptist her home church. She supported her church faithfully and financially.

Virginia leaves to cherish her memory: a son- Reginald (Margarita) Washington, Tampa, FL; step-children- Synthia H. (Michael) Allen, Hampton, VA and Tyshanda (Thomas) Coleman, South Hill, VA; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; sister- Bertha Moss, Petersburg, VA; 6 sisters-in-law, Deborah Walker, Violet Smith, and Debbie Palmer, all of South Hill, VA; Doris Holmes and Diana (Melvin) Lambert, Richmond, VA and Shelia Holmes, South Hill, VA; brother-in-law, Frank Crute, Richmond, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
