Coa illie "IC" Hunt-Nicholson

Mrs. Coaillie C. Hunt-Nicholson, affectionately known as “IC” or “Ida C” age 90, of Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, November the 4, 2025, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Coaillie was born on April 2, 1935, Attala County to the late Mary Ann Hickman-Roundtree and the late Clarence Hunt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the late Allen Nicholson; her son, Allen “Rabbit” Hunt, Jr.; her bonus mother, Cynthia Viola Gregory-Hunt; her stepfather, John L. Roundtree; and her siblings: Rev. Louis Hunt, Shirley Barksdale, Leroy Hunt, L.D. Hunt, Leogia Hunt, and Leobia Hunt.

Coaillie attended the Attala County School System and spent many years working in service to others. She joined Marble Rock M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph McChriston. On October 13, 1963, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Allen Nicholson.

She was wonderful, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Known as one of the best cooks, Coaillie loved preparing meals for her family and for anyone who entered her home. Her warm hospitality and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her.

Coaillie leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters: Frances Helen (Billy “Joe”) Coffee, Linda Williams of Kosciusko, MS, and Wavelan (Ronnie) Backstrom of Philadelphia, MS; and one son: James Hunt of Blytheville, Arkansas. She is also survived by three sisters: Sylenthia Smith and Teressie Clark, both of Kosciusko, MS, and Levonia Simmons of Chicago, Illinois; one brother: Rev. John Louis (Throlas) Hunt of Kosciusko, MS; and one sister-in-law; Jerlene Hunt of Kosciusko, MS.

Her legacy continues through three grand-daughters: Evangelist Temeka Hunt, Ashley (Medgar) Brown of Kosciusko, MS, and Sylvania Backstrom of Philadelphia, MS; four grandsons: Billy Avery (Martine) Coffee of Brandon, MS, James Hunt Jr. of Austin, TX, Ashford Coffee of Kosciusko, MS, and Lorenzo Thomas of Arkansas; six great-grand-daughters, seven great grand-sons, and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, and friends. Mrs. Coaillie C. Hunt-Nicholson will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
