Anthony Powell Boyd

A Private funeral service for Anthony Powell Boyd 54, will be Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1 pm at the Anniston Funeral Service Russell H. Williams Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Jenifer Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd passed away on October 23, 2025. The family has requested No Public Viewing.

He was educated in the Anniston City School System & was part of the 1989 class of Anniston High School. He was baptized at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Munford. He coached little league football & basketball at Glenn Addie Community Center. He served as the Chairman of Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty (PHADP).

Survivors include his daughters: Valencia (Codey) Holloway and AnQuinette (Quindarius) Mims; his mother: Patricia Boyd-McGrew; his brothers: Roderick (Renetta) Henderson, Sylvester (Spencer) Boyd; grandchildren: Jaxon and Austin Holloway, Jamiriah Patton, Leah, Ariayah and Killian Mims; nephews: Roderick Jr. and Jerell Henderson; nieces: Armeshia and Raevyn Henderson, Marchelle Campbell, Kiara Turner; uncles: Charles Jackson, Danny Brown; aunt: Wendell Brown A; a special cousin: Cecil Duncan; devoted friends: Kumira Mason, Tanja Roser; dearest devoted friends and organizations: Ester Brown – Executive Director of PHADP, Reverend Jeff Hood – Spiritual Advisor, Death Penalty Action, Execution Intervention Project; Special Brothers: All on the Row; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester "Potluck" McGrew, great grandmother Elma Boyd, grandparents, Dawson McGrew, Ella McGrew and Magaret Jones, uncles, Reverend Ireland McGrew, Willie James White, Rogers Young, Theodore Young, Cecil Young, Auntie, Lind Gail McGrew Bradford.
