Mrs. Pearline Hunter Lewis, a loving mother, homemaker and a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, answered her Master’s call on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Brinson Hill Baptist Church, 493 South Main Street, Wadley, GA. Interment will be held in the Brinson Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 at Davis Funeral Home, from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
Pearline was born to the parentage of the late Mamie Lou “T-Ninechi” Hunter and the late Edward Hunter on October 20, 1945, in Wadley, Georgia. Pearline was predeceased by the following siblings: ReLester Hunter and Pressie Mae Green.
Early in Life, Pearline united with Batts Grove Baptist Church, where she started her spiritual journey. She served diligently on the Usher Board. She served in the Building Aide Convention and helped raise funds for the Busy Bee Committee. She later moved her membership to Brinson Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She was always willing to serve and give a helping hand until her health failed.
Pearline lived on a farm in her formative years and attended elementary school. She had a strong work ethic. She worked as a housekeeper for many years for the Thomas and Rita Battle family. She took pride in the tasks she had before her, and she accomplished them with joy and enthusiasm. She also worked for the St. Eve Corporation until it went out of business.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her two precious children, whom she loved with all her heart; a devoted daughter: Joan (Darren) Thompson of Wadley, Georgia; and a loving son: Rickey Lee Lewis; Grandchildren: Shaniquah (Andre) Washington, Shytiece Thompson, Shakeria (Lexus) Price, Jayron McKinnie, T’Leyah Lewis, Shywon Dixon, Darren Thompson Jr., Antravia Bostic, Kaylee Lewis, Raquis Lewis, Rimyah Lewis, Braylon Lee Wilson; great grandchildren: Alaysia Williams, Cameron Mitchell, Bryson Philbert, Dallas Dixon; and a great furbaby: Jaxper; five sisters: Mae Lois Hunter, Inell Hunter, Gracie Mae Hunter and Julia Mae Little all of Wadley, Georgia. Susan Lewis of Swainsboro, GA, and Terrie (Maurice) Lawrence of Aiken, SC; three brothers: Robert (Karen) Hunter and Wallace Hunter, of St. Petersburg, FL, and Charles Hunter, of Wadley, GA; a devoted caregiver: Chyna Gilmore, Wadley, GA; her sister circle; Mattie Walker, Betty Jackson, Mary Braswell, Shirley Samples, and Martha Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
